TIME IS AN ILLUSION

I’m still at my retreat from reality and finished a meditation a few hours ago and had a revelation. I have been writing my book for the past two years, along with being the CEO of my company, running a non-profit, being a mom, a private coach (Soul Blazer), a wife, leading retreats and workshops, being a sister, and a friend; I was pooped without realizing it because I’ve been moving at such a fast pace.

I have now come to the conclusion that when you try to make something happen, the constant energy you put into it may be getting in the way.  I have been writing and re-writing my book trying to get it to be perfect and I realized that from taking a time out from it and looking at it with fresh eyes, I was able to solve the problems I had with it, without racking my brain. When you allow yourself to simply be, things start shifting and moving because you can only go as far as your mind will allow.  If you’re constantly working to get ahead, you can’t come truly from your Authentic Soul and when you don’t truly come from your Authentic Soul, you can’t grow and if you’re not growing, your “Impostors” come out and try to sell you. And trust me, people can smell an “Impostor” a mile away. So the deal is that you have to do the work but then forget it and jump off the cliff, leaving your “notes” behind. Whatever you need is inside you and whoever will be drawn to you and your work will find you because you DID do the work, you did not allow your “Impostors” to do it, just to check it off your to-do list, so you could make money.

However, don’t get me wrong. It’s important to prepare.  I teach a class called “Dare to Prepare”  but you need more than preparing your skill technically; you also need to attune yourself spiritually.  I found this to be true especially for my actor and speaker clientele.  Prepare your instrument but when you go in to an audition, just be you and forget all the prep; trust that it’ll be a part of you.

Now that I’ve slowed down a lot in November and took time to just be present and detox, I’ve found new inspiration bursting to shine through. An energy that is fresh and new and the stale energy is gone and no longer needed.  Ahhhh … PURE BLISS.

See Your Self As Radiant

This past week I have been going through some health “opportunities” and I decided to take the time to focus on what wasn’t congruent in my life.  After blazing several clients at the Soul Blazing Sanctuary, I went to the backyard and sat by the pool and started to mediate.  If you’ve never meditated before, it’s time to start.  Most people think you have to spend a long time doing it to get results but I’m here to tell you that all you need is 5 minutes.

For the past couple of days I have been sitting in silence to pray and meditate in-between my various appointments, mom and wife duties, and events.

If you want to take it on or at least try… find a quiet place that you love like the beach, mountains, a room in your home, next to a tree at the local park … It doesn’t matter where it is as long as you can relax and take a 5 minute “Me” break.

This is the process I use that Marianne Williamson shared.

Sit with your eyes closed for two minutes. During that time, pray to be shown images of yourself embodying the highest, more creative possibility for your life. See yourself radiant, experiencing fully both power and joy. Embrace these images — allow them to settle in, to align with your heart, to lock in to your consciousness. And then repeat these words: “There is no order of difficulty in miracles. In God, all things are possible.” And so it it. Amen.

Meditate Your Way to a Better Life

Ahhhh …. doesn’t that already feel better.  And it was only 2 minutes, not even 5!  Try doing that several times a day or whenever you’re feeling out of alignment and I know it will help you tremendously as well.

Thank you Marianne!

TUNE INTO HUFFPOST LIVE THIS MORNING AT 9:20amPST

I’m excited to let you know that I will be on HuffPost Live talking about marriage and offering tips to help keep your marriage together.

Wedded Bliss… Is it real or fake?

The segment will be streaming live, so don’t miss it.  Living in Hollywood and being married to a TV Producer can be challenging with all the women vying for his attention to help them get a part on one of his shows.  It gets even more challenging when I travel out of the country several times a year for weeks at a time.  And it gets even more challenging when you add kids to the mix.  I’ve found that what makes for a solid relationship against all obstacles is trust, giving 100% without counting who is giving more, and offering freedom and unconditional love to your spouse.  To hear more tips and to listen to this conversation, please tune in to HuffPost Live from 9:20-9:45amPST

Love is in the Air

Michelle Obama soaking in the love

Here are some quotes after the FIrst Lady delivered her speech at the DNC.

“Electrified.” “Impressive.”  ”Wow.”  ”Beautiful.” “Honest.” “Classy.” “Star.” “Masterful.” ”Pundits swoon.”  ”Extremely Impressive and attractive woman.”  ”A grand slam.” ”Oh my god.”

I’m proud of the First Lady. She spoke from her heart and let us in. I know how terrifying it is to be as open and available as she was for us during her speech.  Regardless if you’re a Democrat or Republican we gotta give it up for this classy woman.

Dream While You’re Awake

While browsing the web for inspiration I came across Oprah’s website and a quote about writing from Aimee Bender:  ”As a writer you ask yourself to dream while awake.”  Well, Aimee, this was much easier before I became a wife and a mom.  Now with my new responsibilities it’s harder to go deep and dream while awake. In the past, I would take myself to some faraway place and immerse myself in solitude and write.  Within a short period of time, I would get in a groove and magic would pour out of me.  Now, without that luxury, I have to trick myself and try to create the same kind of inspiration in-between driving my daughter to school and other activities and running a household.

Here are a few writing tips that help:

1. Go to a museum and find a piece of art that moves you and write a story about it.

2. Meditate, even if it’s only for 5 minutes on why you’re writing.  What is it that you want to say.  Once you get connected again to the why, you can do anything.

3.  Carve out the time.  Make a schedule and stick with it.  What works for me is setting the alarm and waking up at 3am and writing for an hour and then going back to bed.  In the middle of the night I found that I can dream while being awake.
