“Love your enemies because they bring out the best in you.” – Friedrich Nietzsche
One of the biggest “surprise!” factors for many of my clients is that, I ask you to BEFRIEND your Imposters… not destroy them, not get rid of them, not ignore them.
Because our Imposters are a lot like pitbulls: They develop their power (and their personality) with whatever care we give to them.
If we try to destroy the parts of ourselves we don’t like (the masks of the Egotist, the Victim, the Joker that I call Imposters)… they become vicious with power and aggression.
If we try to befriend these parts of ourselves instead… their gentle demeanor is revealed and we see our Imposters for what they truly are (just masks we’ve used to “become” who we are).
This takes PRACTICE, . (No one expects you to do a 180 degree turnaround by reading this.)
But that’s why I say this work requires you to show up everyday: It’s not enough to “do the work” one time. If you want long-term results, you need a long-term commitment.
