ME

We each play many roles.

I’m a daughter, a sister, a mother, an amazing ex-wife, a friend, an entrepreneur, a tango dancer, a dig-dug champion, a meditator, a friend, a painter, a speaker, an author, a host, a humanitarian, a storyteller, and a creator. I’m sure there is more. None of these defines me completely. And that’s the whole point.

“You can change the script. You are not broken. You are many. And when you know your cast, you can change the script.” -Lisa Haisha

This is my story — and the story of how I learned to direct the many selves within me. Maybe it’s a little bit of yours, too.

Me

For most of my life, I went looking out there…

– across more than 60 countries
– from boardrooms to yurts
– from colleges to prisons

…for the thing that connects us beneath the surface.

What I found, eventually, was that the most important journey wasn’t across the world at all. It was inward.

It began the day I stopped trying to become one perfect self and started meeting the many selves already living inside me.

Every role taught me something the others couldn’t.

We’re taught to “find ourselves,” as if there’s one true version waiting to be discovered.
I’ve come to believe the opposite. I’m not one self — I’m a cast. And so are you.

The Traveler & Story Excavator

I’ve shared tea with geishas in Kyoto, listened to the wisdom of sex workers in Amsterdam, learned from shamans in Peru, monks in Nepal, and Sufis in Cappadocia. These weren’t tourist stops — they were conversations that cracked something open in me. Some call me a social engineer. I think of myself as a story excavator: someone who helps people uncover what’s been buried beneath performance, pain, or perfection.

The Humanitarian

I traveled to Iraq during the no-fly zone to understand the human cost of war. That journey led me to interview orphans — beginning in Baghdad and continuing through 15 countries, and to stay and volunteer at orphanages — and those voices became the heartbeat of my book.

The Author

My experiences became books. SoulBlazing, where I packaged everything I’d learned into a method. Unmade Beds. Whispers from Children’s Hearts. And the one closest to my bones — my forthcoming memoir, Under a Baghdad Roof (2026).

The Host & Speaker

Whether I’m on a stage or behind a microphone, the message is always the same: you are not broken, you are many. My podcast peels back the masks we wear and exposes the hidden characters running the show inside our minds.

The Daughter, Sister, Mother, Ex-Wife

And underneath all of it, the roles that hold me: the people I love, and who love me back. They’re the reason the work matters. They’re the mirror that keeps me honest.

How I learned to direct my cast.

For years, I let the loudest voices run the show — the ones I’d built as a girl to feel safe, to be loved, to stay in control. I call them the Imposters. Most of us never notice them taking over. We just call their reactions “who I am.”

The shift came when I stopped fighting them and started listening to them. I learned that healing begins when we gather our many selves around the boardroom table of the mind, let each voice be heard — and then choose, consciously, which one takes the lead.

That’s KnowThySelves™. That’s SoulBlazing®. It’s not about becoming someone new. It’s about becoming the director of who you already are, so your Authentic Soul — the voice beneath the noise — gets to lead.

Your story is waiting, too.

My journey inspired one mission: to help people reclaim their stories by meeting the many selves within. However you found your way here — through a podcast, a book, a friend, or a quiet moment of wanting more — there’s a door for you.

Start wherever feels true. Meet your Imposters with a 90-second quiz. Read a chapter. Listen to an episode. Or, when you’re ready, come sit with me in Bali. There’s no wrong way in.
